6 Natural Remedies To Use As Treatment For MRSA

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, also known as MRSA, is a staph infection, which is quite common and very harmful because of the lack of available treatment.

The problem with MRSA is that it is resistant to antibiotic drugs. This is very likely due to the overuse of antibiotic drugs in society. Luckily, there is natural treatment for MRSA through some great herbs, oils and supplements.

Garlic

Garlic has tons of health benefits, and another excellent use for this amazing herb is that it is a good natural treatment for MRSA. This antibiotic power plant is effective when used for killing the bacteria. According to Doctor Ron Cutler, a leading expert on MRSA, the allicin found in garlic kills off established MRSA. Doctor Cutler, conducting the research at the University of East London, had, in 2008 when the report was published, cured over 250 people with MRSA using garlic.

You should eat two garlic cloves a day during treatment. You can also use garlic as a topical remedy. Apply mashed garlic on to the affected area and cover with bandage, change and clean the area every day.

Essential oils

Staph Infection Resources also reports that essential oils are an effective treatment for MRSA. They have many anti-infection agents because they are directly extracted from plants and concentrated. The website notes that essential oils have hundreds of natural chemical compounds working together, which of course makes the MRSA bacteria less likely to develop resistance to them. Really good essential oils to use against MRSA are:

* Oregano oil – Oil from oregano is a great treatment for MRSA because it kills bacteria really effectively. It is full of antiseptic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-parasitic qualities. A study reported in 2001 by Science Daily found oregano oil as effective as current antibiotics in treating antibiotic resistant bugs like MRSA and salmonella. A 2008 study conducted by the University of the West of England found that a compound in oregano oil called carvacrol is a more effective antimicrobial solution than the majority of common pharmaceutical drugs.
