Chronic Sinus Infections – What To Do And Remedies To Use

Chronic sinusitis is a persistent condition where the sinuses are inflamed for more than three months.

Symptoms may vary but include a reddened nose, postnasal drip, pressure and/or pain in the sinuses. There may also be a decreased ability to smell aromas and nasal obstruction.

The condition could be accompanied by polyps within the nose or may have an allergic component to it, such as fungal sinusitis.

Medical treatments for chronic sinusitis include steroids (both oral and inhaled), saline irrigation of the nose, and antibiotics. In some cases, doctors will tell patients they need to have their nasal passages widened. (This seems funny to me, as they never needed their nasal passages widened before the sinusitis happened. If their nose was fine before this happened, it indicates that their anatomical features were working…)

Think Outside the Box and Don’t Look Back

When you have chronic sinus infections or even serious cases that won’t get better with medical treatments, thinking outside the box is in order. You must incorporate natural healing principles into whatever medical protocols you are currently using.

The only stipulation is that when you take medical prescription drugs, there’s a one-hour window of time before you take any nutritional supplements or herbs. Many people think mistakenly that they have to take prescription drugs by themselves and shouldn’t take any supplements of any other kind simultaneously. Although there are some contraindications of supplements with medications, these are the exceptions rather than the rule. However, it’s always good to research any warnings whenever you get a prescription medication.

Your Solution Could Be From the Amazon

I’ve found that the secret to getting over chronic sinusitis is using herbs from the Amazon Rainforest. These herbs come from an area of the world where there’s a lot of rain and humidity that makes it a heaven for fungi. In order for the plants to live their life unharmed by fungi, their leaves and stems have to contain medicinal constituents that are anti-fungal.

Tests on many of the herbs of the Amazon are usually test tube tests that show great antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activity. Some of them may have clinical studies as well.

Here’s a list of three of the top anti-fungal herbs from the Amazon that I use for chronic sinusitis:

Anamu (Petiveria alliacea) – This plant is unique in that it smells like garlic although it isn’t in the garlic family. The plant also is found in Guatemala where it’s inhaled for sinusitis. Anamu is better than a broad spectrum antibiotic because there aren’t any side effects from it; it’s totally natural. Anamu also works well against viruses – something that modern medicine still hasn’t figured out.
