Not everyone realizes this, but a person’s mental, emotional, spiritual and social states have profound influence on his or her physical health.
The following good health habits are thus critical to overall wellbeing.

Good Health Habits Part 5: Non-Physical Aspects
• Have a positive mental outlook
Love life, have an attitude of gratitude, have a positive attitude and mindset, and be positive about the future. Do not be governed by fear; instead, be governed by action. A positive outlook is critical for good health and recovery from serious diseases.
Take up meditation. Or positive visualization. Read books. Listen to audio books. Seek inspiration from people.
Subscribe to an inspiration newsletter. Do what you can to become a more positive person.
• Have a bright and healthy mental and emotional state; manage and reduce stress
Smile and be happy. Have a sense of humor, and laugh more. Manage your stress levels and reduce worry and anxiety. Avoid dosing yourself with bad news and negative people; the TV news and newspapers are filled with unnecessary bad news — if possible, avoid them.
Focus on the present instead of regretting the past or worrying about the future.
Mental and emotional stress and trauma suppress our immune systems, and also release many harmful toxins into our bodies. Most people hit by cancer have unresolved mental or emotional issues. Chronic stress does untold damage to our health and, no matter how healthily you eat and live, if you are under prolonged stress, your health is going to suffer. That’s been my personal experience too.
If you have such issues, for example unresolved grief, an abusive relationship or a highly stressful job, do what you can to manage and deal with them. If you can’t resolve them on your own, seek help, whether from loved ones or professionals. If you need to, change to a less stressful job. It’s no point making a lot of money if work stress ends up badly harming your health or even killing you.
• Cultivate your spiritual health
Trust in God. Pray and meditate. Read spiritual material. If necessary, carry out spiritual cleansing. Importantly, celebrate life; celebrate everything!
• Develop a healthy relationship with yourself
Learn to listen to yourself, as well as to express yourself; suppressing your thoughts and feelings and keeping everything to yourself is very damaging to your health.
Very importantly, learn to love yourself. When we dislike ourselves and / or our bodies, our bodies react accordingly and start producing ill health.
• Help others
Many natural healers and spiritual teachers stress the importance of helping others in achieving personal good health. My take is, what goes around comes around; when we help others, somehow, we are helping ourselves too.
