Herbs For Stress Relief – Herbal Remedies Which Soothe You

Herbs are useful for many maladies and improve the quality of life for many people across the entire globe. Among my favorite uses for herbal remedies is using herbs for stress relief.

There are many herbal options available to you if you want to use them to help to relieve stress.

* Herbs are most effective when consumed on a regular basis. When using herbs to relieve stress, I prefer to use herbal teas. Sipping a tea brings awareness through your senses. As you taste, smell, look at, and go through the age old, simple ritual of tea making, you are taking a break. Whenever possible, savor your tea in a comfortable chair outdoors or in another relaxing location. If you must have your herbal tea on the run, it is still a healthy choice. Herbal remedies, such as tinctures, are effective as well; however, they lack the sensory experience which is so important to the release of stress.

* Make some relaxing herbal baths. Simply take a handful of fragrant herbs and tie them in a cloth. Submerge the cloth in a nice warm bath. Add some Epsom salts to the tub for further muscle relaxation.

* Lemon balm has been recommended as a treatment for stress and depression for over one thousand years. It calms nervous stomachs and relieves tension headaches. One of the best tasting lemon balm remedies that I ever had was a glycerite made by a friend of mine. It was prepared just like a tincture; however, instead of alcohol, my friend used vegetable glycerin as the diluent. Glycerites are not always as strong as tinctures but they are just as portable. Glycerites are terrific ways to get herbs into children.

* I grow passionflower. It is a vigorous vine which lives over my swing. Just sitting under it and viewing its unusual purple flowers relieves my stress. Even if you do not have a passion flower vine, you may reap its many benefits. Passionflower relieves anxiety. It is simultaneously gentle and powerful. It will help you to sleep better. I recommend it for people who suffer from panic disorder. Physical effects of stress on the body often include headaches, upset stomachs, and stiff, tight muscles. Fortunately, this wonderful plant contains substances which relieve headaches, calm nervous stomachs, and relax muscles.
