Natural Cures For Cold Sores – A Holistic Treatment

Almost everyone has the cold sore virus in their body. It waits patiently, perhaps dormant for years, then it seems to explode when you least expect it – like right before a huge business meeting, or on the day of your wedding.

While it is not possible to get rid of the cold sore virus once you have it, you certainly can manage outbreaks and largely prevent them from returning by reducing your stress levels. Most of the time it is not successful, but when we’re stressed, our body is more vulnerable to infection, and is less capable of fighting it off.

When my clients show up with a viral breakout of any kind, there are three things that I advise for immune system support – stress relief, dietary supplements and essential oils. They often notice that their breakouts are less frequent and get less severe, and if they take really, really good care of themselves, they may not recur at all. Take It Down a Notch

Daily stress is one of the most destructive forces known to man. Every day our inboxes keep filling up, household chores pile up, and as a result, our stress levels go up. Stress also causes our immune function to drop, because it’s just plain worn out dealing with everything. However, there are many things you can do to make those stress levels go down, and use some of that energy to keep an outbreak at bay

* Breathing – when you feel stressed out, take a deep breath in through the nose and exhale slowly and completely through the mouth. Do it again. And again. Notice how you feel after one or two minutes.

* Listen to music – put on relaxing or inspiring music when you feel overwhelmed. Let your body and mind slow down and enjoy it.

* Focus on something nice – gaze at a picture of a child, a flower, a beach – anything that makes you happy.

* Call a friend – sometimes you just need someone to listen, and the comfort of a trusted friend is a tried and true healing remedy

Give yourself little breaks in your day to incorporate these stress-relievers into your routine. When you aren’t stressed, your body has a better chance at fighting off infection and maintaining vibrant health.
