Natural Cures For Lyme Disease To Give You Relief

If you have Lyme disease, there are many alternative remedies that might cure it, but do they really work? What about taking a prescription drug? How do I know which is right?

The information about the effectiveness of each type of treatment may be inconclusive, making your choice even more difficult, and all you want is to make these awful symptoms go away.

Lyme disease is a greatly underreported illness, and can be difficult to cure due to the delayed nature of the infection. The incubation period can last for weeks, and you may not realize that a recent walk in the woods can be responsible for the weird looking rash and unexplainable symptoms you’ve been having. However, it is the most common tick-borne disease and if treated right away, it is almost always curable.

The alternative treatments that I would recommend to relieve the skin irritations, achiness, fatigue and nausea are most effective when begun immediately after exposure to ticks. It may be difficult to even detect the ticks responsible for the infection because they are smaller than the common dog tick. Ick.

If the incubation period is more than ten days, or if the symptoms are especially severe, it may be necessary to also use a prescription to completely clear up the symptoms. When my clients have questions about whether or not they should take prescription medications or do natural treatments, one of my first replies is “Why not both?” There certainly is a place for drugs and surgery alongside of natural therapies, in my opinion. They should be complementary to each other rather than exclusive in nature and, in actuality, they can work wonderfully together.

In order to help your body build its own defenses and have a better chance at healing itself, natural therapies can offer the best initial support. Using the treatments below will better equip your system to deal with a more intense detox process if you decide that stronger meds are necessary.

Fight Internally

When you give your body the nutritional components necessary to eliminate toxins and heal tissues, it can respond in miraculous ways. These nutrients will alleviate the flu-like symptoms that Lyme disease can bring, and repair achy joints and restore energy.

* Primrose oil – 1000mg 2-3x day
* Garlic – 3 capsules 3x per day; a natural antibiotic and immune enhancer
* Kelp -1000mg daily; aids in detoxifying the body
* Selenium – 200mcg daily; a free radical scavenger
* Taurine – an antioxidant and immune system regulator
* Vitamin A – 10000IU daily; important for protecting tissues
* Vitamin C – 1500mg daily; aids the body’s healing response
* Vitamin E – 200IU daily; important for healing skin tissue
* Acidophilus – recommended if antibiotics are used

The above amounts are recommended for adults only. For children ages 12-17 years, take 3/4 amount; for children 6-12 years, take 1/2 dose; and for children 6 and under, consult a physician. Remember that the sooner you begin to treat Lyme disease, the more effective the natural remedies will be.
