Natural Remedies For Gout That Really Work

It may seem that the only treatments for gout are to take pain relievers or medications and to change your diet. But the truth is that you can do many things at home to reduce pain and promote healing.

I always tell my clients that they are their own best healer, and this condition bears no exception.

Taking the time at home to support and allow your body to heal itself can seem overwhelming, but these natural remedies for gout can easily be incorporated into your daily routine. Trust me, when you no longer experience the throbbing, swelling and infuriating pain of this disorder, you and your feet will thank me.

Essential Support

The concentrated, medicinal extracts of plants known as essential oils can be extremely useful in reducing the intensity and frequency of gout related flare-ups. These natural remedies support the liver in breaking down toxins, aid the lymphatic system in cleansing tissues while reducing inflammation, joint discomfort and alleviating bone pain.

* Birch – 8 drops
* Fennel – 6 drops
* Geranium – 4 drops
* Lemon – 2 drops

Combine the oils above to be used in a foot bath, compress or massage lotion twice daily. Always use therapeutic-grade essential oils, and dilute in a neutral carrier oil before using on skin. Do not take internally.

Nutrient Boost

The symptoms of gout are largely caused by foods that produce too much uric acid. Eliminating those gout causing foods is a good start, but you should follow up with the proper vitamins and minerals to give your immune and lymph systems some extra muscle.

* Borage seed oil – 1800mg daily – effective for pain control and restores fatty acid balance in the bloodstream; this disorder is often caused by excess of saturated fats

* Vitamin B complex – 100mg of each major B vitamin (especially vitamin B5), needed for proper enzymatic support

* Vitamin C – 1000mg daily, lowers uric acid levels

* Vitamin A – 10000IU daily, essential for tissue repair

* Vitamin E – 400IU daily, deficiency causes damage to uric acid cells causing increase in production

* Amino acid complex – use as directed, essential for elimination of uric acid

* Alfalfa – 1000mg daily, reduces uric acid levels

The above amounts are recommended for adults only. Children rarely suffer from gout, but dosage amounts for children 12-17 years should be reduced by one-fourth.
