Pink Eye Home Remedies – How To Treat Conjunctivitis Naturally

As a child suffering from multiple vitamin and mineral deficiencies, I often had pink eye.

I’d go to bed with itchy eyes and by morning, a crust would form on the edge of my eyelids, sticking them together. I’d try to peel it off and my mother would bring in warm washcloths to soften the crusts so I could open my eyes. Then we would be off to the doctor for an appointment and antibiotic ointment.

What Pink Eye Is

Over the years, I’ve learned that pink eye is officially called conjunctivitis. It is highly contagious but with good hygiene, no one else in your family has to suffer from it. However, pink eye might also be caused by an allergy to something in your environment or something that you have eaten.

When pink eye is contagious, it’s usually caused by a virus or bacteria. Two of the most common bacteria that cause it are Staphylococci and Streptococci. The conjunctivitis may be accompanied by swelling, redness, inflamed lymph nodes in the area, and a greenish discharge.

What’s the Bottom Line on Pink Eye?

There’s something here within this information you’ve read so far that gives you a tip off as to what is happening to the body when you get this condition. It’s that the normal skin bacteria of Staph and Strep are culprits in the cause. This tells you that pink eye can result because your immunity fell to a low level. Once you raise your immunity, the pink eye will go away. This is an important step, especially because some cases of pink eye can linger on for months.

The reason why this works so well is because when your immunity is low, the pathogenic bacteria that may be part of the normal flora now have a chance to grow. When immunity is high, the pathogens are suppressed. However, if the condition is due to an allergy, it will improve if you use herbs that have the power to calm down the immune system. Allergic conjunctivitis results from an IgE-mediated inflammatory condition.

Here are a few different protocols that can be used to stimulate the immune system. You may even combine a few different herbs and still take both at the required dosage.

Take one or more of any of the following:

Here’s a protocol that can be used to calm down the immune system:
