Self Help For Anxiety Relief – Try These Natural Remedies

Everyone feels a little nervous from time to time. We have all felt our palms get sweaty, noticed how we start to fidget and stumble over our words a bit when we’re on the spot.

When the moment has passed, however, most people return to normal and go about their business, but for some, the moment never ends. They continue to worry about things, large and small, and never really can feel safe in their own skin.

Humans love to make drama, and things we interpret as problems are usually exaggerated in some way. Most of the time, we’re trying to understand the past or are worrying about the future, and we fail to see how being accepting of the present moment – right now – is the solution to most of our problems. When we spend too much time in our thoughts and not enough time actually living our life, it’s only natural that we feel nervous, like we’re missing something big. You are. It’s called your life.

When I work with clients who suffer from anxiety attacks, I try to help them get perspective on their problems in the present moment. Rather than trying to change outside circumstances, or solve a dilemma, I ask my clients to consider how they might be misinterpreting the situation, or making it into something more dramatic than it really is. This takes practice and is no easy feat – being satisfied with the present moment, yikes!

There are many practices that I recommend for anxiety, but the bottom line for most of these is being mindful of the present moment. Without that crucial piece, anxiety will creep around every corner, waiting to get access to your thoughts and run wild.

Raise Your Vibration

It is easy to feel overwhelmed by life. There are plenty of issues to deal with and problems to solve. Very often we are surrounded by lower energies that can compromise our natural energy levels. Whether these energy zappers are other people, negative environments or unnecessary worries, it is possible to protect yourself from getting pulled down into a panic attack by raising the vibrations in your field.

The easiest ways to do this are with flower essences or essential oils. Flower essences are homeopathic remedies that can help you with anxiety and overwhelm, while essential oils are concentrated plant medicines that can clear negativity and restore emotional balance. Try one or two of the following, and keep them with you for a quick pick-me-up or to take the edge off anytime.

* Elm Flower Essence – for feeling like you have too much on your to-do list, helps to feel more organized and capable

* Aspen Flower Essence – perfect for settling nerves and calming fears about the unknown, creates a sense of safety and relaxation

* Cherry Plum Flower Essence – this is for those moments when you’re just going to lose it – in a big way, restores self-control and inner peace

* Lavender Essential Oil – has a calming, sedative effect and can promote a sense of peace and well-being

* Roman Chamomile Essential Oil – provides fortitude needed to face your fears by establishing a calm sense of strength

* Vetiver Essential Oil – grounding and sedative, useful for bringing us back down when upset by fears or anxiety

These are widely available at health food stores and are generally inexpensive and convenient for most people to use. Take flower essences in water, and apply essential oils to the body in a carrier oil dilution. I have found much success with reducing anxiety symptoms in my clients, with virtually no side effects.
