Yeast Infection Home Remedies You Could Try

If you use cloth diapers, hang them outside on a sunny day. The sunshine will help to kill any yeasts.

If a yeast infection is present, only use disposable diapers if you can afford to in order to prevent re-infection from occurring.

I am a firm believer in letting babies “air out” their bottoms at times.

Preventing Yeast Infections in Women

Yeasts love warm, dark, moist environments. Prevention focuses on producing a cool and dry environment. Wear loose fitting cotton underwear, and outerwear made of natural, breathable materials. Good hygiene is essential.

Most women have heard that eating yogurt prevents yeast infections. If you do not like yogurt, try some other cultured foods. The condiment kim chee is a spicy fermented food. Real sauerkraut is too. (Not the stuff from a can.) Kefir is a non dairy fermented food as well. You may want to include supplements of acidophilus too.

All of these fermented foods and the acidophilus help to maintain a healthy balance of microorganisms in your body. Yeasts are always present. It is when there are too many of them that yeast infections occur.

Eat lots of garlic. Garlic destroys yeasts. You should eat it raw or lightly cooked for the most benefits. If you have a yeast infection, eat even more garlic than you usually do. The rest of the onion family is helpful too, but garlic is the strongest. Try some horseradish too.

Do not over eat junk foods, especially sweets. Yeasts thrive on sugar. Avoid beer. Some women find that eating less bread helps but I am not sure how accurate this is as the yeasts in bread are unrelated to the yeasts which cause yeast infections. It may be worth a try.

Eat a healthy diet so that your immune system will be able to fight off infections. Be sure to get adequate rest and exercise. Stress reduction improves immune health.

Relieving the Misery of a Yeast Infection

Try placing a few drops of tea tree oil directly into the vagina or place a few drops on a cotton ball or tampon. Tea tree oil prevents the growth of the yeasts. What probably matters most to you is that it can instantly diminish the pain and itchiness that the yeasts cause. Some women find that undiluted tea tree oil is too strong, so they dilute it in a little olive oil. Both are effective home remedies for yeast infections.

Consult with your health care provider if you implement these strategies and you still get yeast infections.
