Make Carpal Tunnel Exercises Into Fun Exercises
|
Carpal tunnel exercises are a standard part of every good protocol that initiates healing. Almost every single disorder that involves joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments will at one time or another involve doing exercises during the recovery program.
However, aren’t you tired of the same old carpal tunnel exercises? Have you noticed that most health practitioners tend to make exercises boring?
By adding a context to your carpal tunnel exercises, you can make the time go by faster – and end up stimulating your own healing because you are more apt to stay with the program.
Four Carpal Tunnel Exercises That Are Fun
Here are four carpal tunnel exercises in a new context for you:
Stay Away Burglar!
In this exercise, you simply act as if a burglar is coming into your circle of influence located within two feet of you. Extend your arms out in front of you with your hands at a 90-degree angle to the floor. Hold this position for 5 to 10 seconds. Repeat a few times.
Show Burglar How to Be Hand-cuffed
In this exercise, you can imagine the burglar is getting arrested. Stand with your arms out in front of you and put both wrists together with hands in a slight fist. Hold the position for 5 to 10 seconds. Repeat a few times.
Hold a Present and Let It Fall
The burglar gave you a present and you discovered it’s a bomb! Hold your arm out to the side with palm up as if you are expecting someone to put a small present in your hand. Then drop your fingers toward the floor, as if you are dropping the present. Hold it for 20 seconds. To increase the stretch, tilt your head to the opposite side. Repeat three to five times.
For advanced exercisers, do one hand at a time. When you exercise the right hand, reach around your thumb with the left hand and pull your right thumb upward. You can imagine you’re pulling out the flaming wick from the bomb on this one for fun! This is one of the most excellent carpal tunnel exercises
