Raw Foods You Could Eat While On A Raw Diet

Thinking of going on a raw diet, either fully or partially, permanently or for a short period? Here is a list of raw foods you could eat while going raw.

This list was first compiled and published on another website in 2008.


List of Raw Foods – some ideas

While I do not focus on specific raw diet plans in this article, this list of raw foods which I have compiled will give you some ideas on what raw foods can be added to your diet.

This raw food information will thus be able to help you in formulating a raw food diet plan or a raw food diet menu.

Generally, according to raw foodists, foods which are not heated above 116 degrees Fahrenheit are considered ‘raw’.


FRUITS
As fresh and as recently picked as possible
Don’t eat seedless fruits – they have been genetically modified and are not natural

• Juices – fruits and vegetables, freshly prepared
• Salads – can be blended or tossed; fruit salads can also be prepared

• Vegetable soups (raw)

Healthy and nutrition-packed supplements you can add to your raw diet

• Barley grass powder
Wheat grass powder
• various herbs and herbal dietary supplements
Superfood mixture, containing barley grass, wheat grass, spirulina, chlorella, and / or some other of nature’s healthy whole foods
Probiotics

You can also use various vegetables to prepare vegetable broths, drinking it and not consuming the cooked vegetables.

If you are not intending to go fully raw, then some of the above list of raw foods, as well as other vegetables, can also be cooked lightly. This includes asparagus, cabbage, leeks, lentils, potatoes, rice, rhubarb, spinach, turnips, etc.

Preferably, they should be steamed or lightly boiled. Steaming your food is an excellent way of preserving as much of its taste, flavor and nutrient value as possible during the cooking process.
