* Olive oil – Regenerative Nutrition reports that olive oil can be used as treatment for MRSA. Hospitals in Hungary often use this against the bacteria. The website reports on research published at the American Society for Microbiology, which found that components called elenol acid and calcium elenolate in olive oil “inhibited the growth of every virus, bacteria, fungi and protozoa they were tested against.”

* Tea tree oil – There is also some positive reports showing that tea tree oil can be used as a natural treatment for MRSA. A Natural News article from 2012 says that tea tree oil is a great antibacterial agent that can kill off the MRSA bacteria when applied on the affected area.

Turmeric

This great spice can be used as treatment for MRSA. For instance, a study by the Institute of Hepatology, University College London Medical School, found that curcumin in turmeric effectively fights inflammation and increases resistance to disease. A 2011 Livestrong article reports that studies show turmeric suppressing the host gene that binds to bacteria. This will effectively prevent the unhealthy bacteria from entering host cells.

You can make turmeric into a paste by combining it with water and applying on to the affected area. You should also drink turmeric mixed with water during the treatment to improve its effectiveness.

Manuka honey

Honey is traditionally used to treat infections and it seems it is very effective against the MRSA bacteria, too. Manuka honey is especially good to use as treatment for MRSA.

National Geographic News reported in 2008 of a study that found manuka honey prevented the MRSA bacteria from growing. The study concluded that “the MRSA bacteria treated with manuka honey more often lacked a particular protein necessary for synthesizing fatty acids, which are required for building cell walls and internal structures”; thus, the bacteria would be unable to reproduce and would then eventually die off.
