Canker Sore Home Remedies – Effective Natural Treatment

* Apply topical essential oils. Many can be purchased as blends. If not, add a drop of oil to one half teaspoon of olive oil. Swish the blend in your mouth and then spit it out. If canker sores are recurrent, add one half of a teaspoon of essential oil to a quart of mouthwash and use as desired. Several essential oils are useful home remedies for canker sores. Oregano leaf oil is an excellent choice as it destroys microorganisms and enhances healing. Myrrh oil is powerful too. Coptis destroys microorganisms, provides antioxidants needed for healing, and enhances the health of your immune system. Dentists have used clove oil for years as a remedy for mouth pain and to destroy infections of the mouth. In a pinch, you can simply sprinkle a little bit of powdered cloves from your spice rack onto the area. Tea tree oil may be added to mouthwash or swabbed directly to the sore with a cotton swab.

* Keep your immune system healthy. Get enough sleep. Enjoy fresh air on a regular basis.

* Be sure that you consume enough fluids. A dry mouth is susceptible to getting tiny scratches and cracks. Bacteria may lodge in those microscopic crevices and begin forming a canker sore.

* Take acidophilus on a regular basis to keep your immune system healthy.

* Do not smoke.

* Rinse your mouth at least four times per day with warm salt water, to stay clean and aid healing.

* Take zinc to hasten healing when you do have a canker sore. Avoid lozenges which have rough edges. Use a liquid or easily dissolvable brand.

* Limit your consumption of meat during flare-ups. Obtain protein from plant based sources such as kefir, dried peas and bean and quinoa.

The best remedy for canker sores is prevention. Use these strategies to prevent getting a canker sore and to help you get rid of canker sores fast.
