Don’t remove all high glycemic foods from your diet

What makes a food high glycemic?

There are great glycemic indexes available to use to check the glycemic content of certain foods. The key is that foods with 70 or higher glycemic index number fall into the category of high glycemic foods, and anything with 55 or lower are considered low glycemic foods. High glycemic foods are often:

* Foods with high sugar content, such as honey, chocolate and syrup.
* Foods that have high carbohydrate content, like pasta and potatoes.
* Grains like rice and corn.
* White flour products.
* Alcohol, with the exception of red wine.
* Snacks like potato chips and popcorn.
