Carpal Tunnel Relief With Home Remedies

2. Use a Hand Splint

When you have carpal tunnel syndrome, don’t get a generic splint. Get a customized splint from your doctor who will determine what your body needs.

3. Give Up the Power Tools

Power tools cause vibration, which can increase your carpal tunnel symptoms. Take a hiatus from the power tools or any tools that vibrate until you have recovered from the condition.

4. Check Your Body Position at Work

It’s imperative that you do a self-check during your work hours. Where are your hands when they’re on your desk? Is the positioning of your hands forming an angle? Decreasing the angle so that your hands are in a 180-degree line with your forearm is the goal.

5. Stay Away from Situations Where You’ll Be Shaking Hands

When you have carpal tunnel syndrome, shaking hands is one of those actions that can initiate the pain for hours to come. If you’re going to a public event, consider wearing your splint so that others won’t expect you to shake hands. You can still be sociable in other ways.

6. Leave the Vegetable Cutting For Other Family Members

The act of cutting vegetables can be another activity that will send you into a pain frenzy hunting down any last aspirin in the house. Simply assign the task to someone else. If you live at home by yourself, purchase already-sliced vegetables and meats. It’s easier on you and will help with carpal tunnel relief.

7. Don’t Run For the Hot Packs

Heat may feel good on the body but refrain yourself from using heat on your wrist! Heat will increase the circulation to the carpal tunnel area – and bring in more inflammatory compounds. You’ll end up with more pain later on in the day.

Think about all your activities during the day. If an activity puts your wrist in a position where you get pain, remember that and don’t repeat it. During the healing phase, it’s important to take a break from any activity that causes pain. Resting the area is synonymous with healing.

Don’t forget to do the carpal tunnel exercises as well. For maximum carpal tunnel relief, it’s the ice therapy and resting of the area coupled with the strengthening of the muscles and tendons that will end up creating your fast recovery.
