Herbal Canker Sore Treatment – Great Herbs To Use

Myrrh

Myrrh is my favorite remedy for any sores or infection of the oral cavity. I have used it for people with severe mouth infections and had excellent results. Use it as a mouthwash four times daily or simply put a little of the powder directly on the lesion. You may substitute essential oil of myrrh for topical use. Simply dab it to the lesion with a cotton swab at least four times daily. Healing will be rapid as this herb destroys microorganisms effectively.

Goldenseal and Berberine

Some people recommend the use of the bitter herb goldenseal. Goldenseal is a wonderful, effective remedy; however, it is an endangered plant and extremely expensive. The most active ingredient in goldenseal is called berberine. Fortunately, other, non endangered plants contain berberine. They are not quite as strong as goldenseal, but the vast majority of the time they are quite effective. Oregon grape root and barberry are berberine rich plants that may be used instead of goldenseal.

Burdock Root

Burdock root is a mild tasting herb that is excellent for long term use. It may help your body to heal from having a canker sore and prevent recurrence. Burdock root is a powerful detoxifying herb which rids the body of infection and toxins. It aids liver health. A healthy liver is essential for a vast number of functions. One of its most important functions is to defend the body. Use burdock root regularly to support the health of your entire body.

Using Herbs as Natural Canker Sore Treatment

Treat canker sores promptly. The most effective herbal canker sore treatment employs internal and external remedies. Give these a try and soon that canker sore will be a thing of the past.
