How An Olive Oil Cleanse Can Benefit Your Skin And Make It Healthier
|
How to do the cleanse
Doing the olive oil cleanse is really easy. You need to make your own mixture by mixing together olive oil and castor oil. A Mommy Potamus article from 2012 outlines the ratios as:
For Oily Skin
1 part castor oil and 3 parts olive oil
Combination Skin
1 part castor oil and 4 parts olive oil
Dry Skin
1 part castor oil and 10 parts olive oil
Rub the mixture onto your skin for 2 to 5 minutes. After that, place a washcloth towel, which has been rinsed with hot water, on top of your skin. The hotter, the better; just make sure it doesn’t burn your face.
Cover it with another dry towel to keep all the steam in – this will improve the outcome of the olive oil cleanse. Leave it on until the washcloth has cooled down.
Remove the towels and gently remove any extra oil with the cloth. Don’t rub or wash your skin. You can repeat this as many times as you want; 2 to 3 times is often enough to remove any dirty bacteria from the skin.
Use a clean washcloth each time so that they don’t transfer the removed bacteria back onto the skin. If your skin is feeling tight afterwards, you can rub a bit of cleansing oil onto the skin – just a small amount to help moisturize the skin more.
