Naturally Treating A Yeast Infection During Pregnancy

Food Triggers

Dietary choices can be one of the biggest factors in understanding the causes of a yeast infection. The cravings of pregnancy may lead some women to ingest larger quantities of certain foods than usual, contributing to an overgrowth of yeast. Maintaining a proper diet during your pregnancy can keep the factors that cause yeast infections to a minimum.

* Eliminate Yeast – cutting out products that contain yeast and wheat can significantly reduce growth

* Reduce Sugar – avoid refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup and other sources found in processed foods

* Include Probioticsadd plain yogurt with live cultures to your diet to balance good bacteria

Gentle Remedies

Pregnant women have a few natural choices when it comes to treating yeast infections. Even though it may be safe to use a topical cream from the drug store to treat them, home remedies are gentle and safe and often work just as well without the foreign chemicals.

* Got Garlic? – you can either take garlic supplements or use a clove of garlic as a vaginal suppository; insert before bedtime and remove in the morning (you can sew a string thru it for easy removal)

* Stay Loose – only use natural cotton underwear and avoid tight clothing or nylons

* Keep It Fresh – change sweaty clothes after workouts and remove wet bathing suits immediately after swimming

* Go Nudesleep without wearing underwear or pajama bottoms to allow for natural air circulation

Although yeast infections are common and usually don’t cause serious problems, if this is your first occurrence, it’s important to visit a doctor to rule out another more serious condition that could have negative effects on your pregnancy.

Properly taking care of a yeast infection during pregnancy is important because it puts a mother at risk for premature labor and exposure to the baby during birth. A simple protocol of preventative measures and gentle treatments may be all you need to keep yeast infections under control long after your pregnancy is over.
