Don’t Be Afraid to Add Vitamins

You can also use vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin C, and vitamin D3 as part of your protocol to normalize the immune system, for either allergic conjunctivitis or bacterial / viral conjunctivitis. A dose of 50,000 IU vitamin A, 400 IU vitamin E, 2000 mg vitamin C, and 5000 IU vitamin D3 taken daily for one week is a good level to begin with. These amounts can be extended for an additional week in most people.

Latest Medical Reports on Conjunctivitis

Here’s some of the most recent information reported in the medical literature on pink eye:

1. The most common type of (infectious) conjunctivitis is viral. Second most common is bacterial. These will usually resolve in less than two weeks.

2. The difference between bacterial and vital conjunctivitis is that the viral variety itches.

3. Conjunctivitis can also result from Chlamydia or gonorrhea. These need topical treatment plus oral antibiotics to kill the STDs in the system.

4. Most cases of pink eye due to allergies never show up in the doctors’ offices.

5. Allergic conjunctivitis can be treated with topical antihistamines and drugs that interfere with the mast cells of the immune system.

However, don’t expect more than temporary relief from the topical antihistamines. That’s what Thai doctors reported in their journal article in Current Opinions of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. They believe you need substances that act as immunomodulators to interrupt the inflammation. If doctors give you immunomodulators, you may receive Cromolyn, nedocromil, topical corticosteroids, and sublingual immunotherapy. The most effective drugs have been cyclosporine A and tacrolimus. These are both immunomodulators.

Try the natural route first before you try some of these very strong drugs that can cause some serious side effects.
