Seeking A Natural Cure For Hives? These Remedies Could Help

Help When Hives Develop

Keep aloe vera gel in the refrigerator. Apply it liberally to hives. If you have an aloe plant, simply slice open a leaf and apply the gel directly to the lesions.

Take a large dose of vitamin C when hives are present. Begin with 3000 milligrams. Take 1000 milligrams of additional vitamin C hourly. Stop if diarrhea ensues or when you reach a total of 10,000 milligrams. Do not be alarmed if loose stools occur. It is a harmless reaction to the vitamin C. It means that you have received all of the vitamin C that you need.

Lifestyle Changes to Prevent Hives

Consume steamed nettles regularly in the diet. If that is not an option, drink nettle tea or take supplements of nettle. Nettle helps to reduce the allergic response. It must be taken regularly for maximum effect.

Wear clothing which is soft and allows your skin to “breathe”. Purchase clothing made of lightweight natural fibers, such as organic cotton. Hives are often irritated when the skin is hot. Protect yourself from excessive sunlight. If the weather is hot, perform outdoor activities in the morning or evening, when it is cooler.

Use hypoallergenic skin care products and cleansers for your home. Simple cleansers such as vinegar, washing soda, baking soda and borax make effective home cleansers and are free of perfumes and other chemical compounds which may result in hives and other allergic reactions.

Some people who get hives repeatedly suffer from chronic yeast infections. If your hives are recurrent, try a yeast-free diet to see if that helps. An elimination or rotation diet may be beneficial as well, especially if you are not sure of what is triggering the hives.

If you have hives more than once and you do not know the cause, keep a record of outbreaks. List your symptoms, what you ate that day, what you were doing, stressors, and anything else that you feel might be significant. Note where you were when you broke out; what you were doing; what you were wearing; and more.

The Bottom Line: Natural Cures for Hives

Using natural remedies is not a cure for hives; however, they may prevent and reduce occurrences and intensity of outbreaks. Lifestyle interventions are essential to help your body to become less sensitive to the allergens which cause hives. Natural remedies are an essential part of a well rounded plan to eliminate hives and the symptoms which accompany them.
