Useful Herbs For Fibromyalgia Treatment And Relief

Anti-Microbial Agents

Although the exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, many experts believe that there is a connection with viral illnesses. Epstein–Barr virus is sometimes implicated. Other practitioners think that Candida albicans, a yeast, may be involved.

St John’s wort or cinnamon may be useful if an infection is involved. St John’s wort is also effective for the treatment of mild to moderate depression. A high percentage of people who suffer from fibromyalgia are depressed, so long term use of St John’s wort may be beneficial.

St John’s wort oil is made from fresh flowers or obtained from an herbalist. It may be massaged into painful areas. St John’s wort oil is the best base oil to use whenever nerve pain is present. Essential oils may be added to the St John’s wort oil for further effectiveness. Diluted rosemary, wintergreen, and black pepper essential oils are beneficial oils to use topically as pain relievers.

Herbal Stimulants

Herbal stimulants promote the health of the circulation, thereby reducing pain and inflammation. Unlike stimulant drugs, herbal stimulants do not cause “jitters”; they simply activate the body gently.

Herbal stimulants are important components to blend with adaptogenic and detoxifying herbs. By adding an herbal stimulant, the other herbs work better and the maximum health benefits from the herbs are obtained. Ginger and small amounts of black and cayenne pepper are excellent herbal stimulants which are safe for long term use.

Herbs for Fibromyalgia: The Bottom Line

Is there an herb that can cure fibromyalgia? No. Can herbs help make life with fibromyalgia better? Absolutely.

Use herbs to enhance your body’s own healing powers. Herbs can make you healthier and improve your sense of wellbeing. They can decrease pain and provide your body with nutrients needed to heal. Most herbal remedies for fibromyalgia need to be consumed regularly for several weeks or more before their benefits are seen; however, herbs provide long lasting, safe, effective relief from the symptoms of this painful condition.
