A Holistic Psoriasis Home Treatment Plan That Works

Other herbs which are great detoxifiers include dandelion root and yellow dock. They are less tasty than burdock, but work very effectively.

All of these herbs help to deep clean your entire body. Herbalists consider them to be blood purifiers as well as digestive and liver tonics.

Itching from psoriasis increases the release of histamines. Histamines have several effects on the body. One effect is to cause more itching. Another is irritability. Drink herbal teas which are calming. Several calming teas offer great benefits for your skin as well. Try calendula, lemon balm, skullcap, passionflower, oatstraw or chamomile. They are tasty and relaxing.

Topical Home Remedies for Psoriasis

Chickweed is commonly found in temperate climates. It must be prepared fresh, in my opinion. As a mucilaginous herb, it provides soothing, cooling relief to lesions. Chickweed reduces inflammation, itching, scaling and cracking.

If you gather chickweed, be sure that it has not been exposed to pesticides or chemical fertilizers. You may have some growing in your lawn. You can even eat chickweed. It provides additional benefits when consumed regularly. Chickweed is rich in vitamins and minerals which your body needs to heal.

Kudzu has been safely used in traditional medicine for over two centuries. It offers many benefits to sufferers of psoriasis. Kudzu reduces inflammation and contains compounds which help the skin to heal.

Here is my favorite topical remedy for psoriasis. Use one tablespoonful of evening primrose oil. Add six drops of organic essential oil of lavender. Apply to the lesions twice daily. Within one week you may find that the lesions are completely healed. Lavender reduces cracking, itching, pain, and scaliness. Evening primrose promotes healing, adds moisture, and reduces inflammation.

Other beneficial essential oils which are used to treat psoriasis include chamomile, geranium and melissa.

The Bottom Line – Home Treatments for Psoriasis

I have had a great deal of success treating psoriasis with these simple home remedies. It is important to consider each aspect of treatment as a part of a holistic treatment plan. You will get improvement if you use the topical remedies; but for true, lasting healing effects, it is essential that you include the dietary and internal components of the treatment plan too.
