Best Ways Of Getting Rid Of A Hangover

The Morning After

Sometimes even just a small amount of alcohol can make us feel a little slow. If you’ve really overdone it, I’m sorry to say that there is nothing that will make you feel good as new. But no matter what shape you wake up in, these are great ways to start your day, and shake off the effects of a nightcap or two.

* Vitamin B complex – 100mg each of major B vitamins
* Vitamin C – 1000mg, try a formula that dissolves in water
* Potassium – 99mg, have a banana for breakfast
* Goji berry – 10 dried, excellent anti-oxidant properties
* Ginger or Peppermint tea – both of these have digestive benefits
* Baking soda – 1/4 tsp in 2oz water, stir and drink to settle an upset stomach

The Day of the Dead

Your body can really pay the price for a fun night out. Headaches, nausea, diarrhea – it’s not a pretty sight. So far there is no ‘hangover energy replacement’ pills on the market that can really erase the effects of playing beer pong for six hours straight, but there are a few home remedies to help you feel alive again.

* Cold compress – alcohol creates heat when your body is burning it off

* Stomach massage – apply 2 drops each fennel and lavender oil in a handful of massage cream and rub onto abdomen to relieve nausea

* Detoxifying bath – soak in 1 cup Epsom salts with 5 drops each eucalyptus and juniper essential oils, rest for 20 minutes, follow with a brisk shower if you like

* Headache relief – mix 2 drops each peppermint and rosemary essential oils to a small amount of massage cream and apply to temples or back of neck

I can remember my grandfather making my uncle and his buddies drink the baking soda remedy if they were out late the night before. He would mix it with orange kool-aid, but you can add a splash of whatever you like. Personally, I like to have a little oatmeal or some toast or saltines with honey to pave the way for a new day, sip tea on the couch for a bit, and I’m ready to go.

Hopefully, you have reserved some time for recovery after events where you might have one too many. These treatments will soothe, detoxify, and energize your depleted energy field and overloaded systems, but remember that nothing can really cure a hangover completely except time. Just remember that your zest for life the night before should not rob you of vitality the next day, and that your best cure for a hangover is not to have one in the first place.
