Cancer Fighting Herbs Among Common Kitchen Foods

Flax Seed

Flax seed offers several cancer fighting and chemo protective benefits. It helps to rid the body of excess estrogen. Excess estrogen is involved in the development of breast cancer. Studies indicate that flax seed is a very important cancer fighting herb, especially for post menopausal women.

Be sure to keep flax seed refrigerated. Always grind it right before using to reap all of the health benefits of flax. I use a coffee grinder reserved for herbs. Flax seed should be used cold or added to hot foods after they have been cooked as cooking destroys many of the benefits of flax.

Flax inhibits the growth and spread of cancerous tumors. It also enhances the protective effects of the drug tamoxifen, which is commonly prescribed to breast cancer survivors to prevent recurrence of the disease. Flax prevents constipation, which plagues many patients undergoing chemotherapy. Eat a couple of tablespoons of flax seed daily to reap its healing benefits.

Sage

Sage helps to reduce levels of the hormone prolactin, which are sometimes elevated in women suffering from breast cancer. Compounds in sage occupy chemical binding sites in the body where unhealthy estrogens may lodge. By consuming sage, those sites are occupied and the unhealthy estrogens are excreted.

Sage is an excellent herb to control hot flashes that may occur after chemically or surgically induced menopause in women who have breast or gynecological cancers. Simply consume a couple of the leaves of a fresh plant daily or drink one quart of strong sage tea throughout the day. It should be consumed at a lukewarm temperature.

Personally, I do not care for the flavor of sage tea and find it simpler just to eat a couple of leaves. If a fresh plant is unavailable, consume an equal amount of a dried leaf. Stir it into a little juice. Hot flashes and night sweats will be relieved after two weeks of consistent use. Increase the amount of sage as needed. It is safe to use.

Other Cancer Fighting Herbs

These are just a few of the cancer fighting herbs that are in your kitchen. Rosemary, garlic, green tea, juniper berries and many other kitchen herbs offer cancer fighting benefits as well. All promote wellness of the entire body and prevent cancer from developing in the first place.

Incorporate a wide variety of herbs into your lifestyle. You will gain much more than delicious meals – you will also be eating cancer preventing and cancer fighting herbs that will enhance your health for years to come.
