Natural Cures For Sinus Infection – Herbs That Work

Children may not tolerate the stronger herbs. You may place a clove of peeled garlic in a child’s sock for ten minutes. The garlic will be absorbed by the child’s skin and its healing benefits will travel throughout the child’s body. Do not use this method for children less than two years old without expert advice.

I do not consider garlic tablets to very useful for sinus infections.

Berberine Rich Herbs are Powerful Weapons

Depending upon where you live, barberry or Oregon grape may be wild plants which you can gather or grow in your medicinal herb garden. Alternatively, the roots may be purchased. They are bitter tasting, so I recommend purchasing or making a tincture for healing purposes. Oregon grape root and barberry root bark contain berberine and other compounds which fight infection, tone the mucus membranes, and activate your body’s immune system.

Have a Cup of Tea

Drink hot tea in order to promote the drainage of secretions. Herbal, black, and green teas are all beneficial. Linden and chamomile teas provide soothing comfort. Hot teas unclog stuffed sinuses better than cold teas. Spicy blends such as chai, cinnamon, or ginger provide antibacterial compounds which hasten recovery. Use local honey in tea for flavor and to reap the healing benefits which honey provides. Adding lemon or other citrus provides vitamin C which will help your body fight the infection.

Prepare an Herbal Steam for Instant Relief

Sprinkle some rosemary, thyme, eucalyptus leaf, or oregano over a bowl of steaming hot water. Sit facing the bowl. Drape a large towel over your head and the bowl, forming a tent. Stay in the herbal tent for ten to fifteen minutes. Breathe normally. Your sinuses will unclog. The vapors will transport the healing essential oils from the herbs directly to the sinus region. Herbal steams are among the most effective remedies for sinus infections. Repeat as often as desired.

Herbal remedies are very effective primary and complementary treatments for sinus infections.
