Why Some High Blood Pressure Diets Don’t Work

What’s Wrong With This Diet?

This DASH Diet is an example of why some high blood pressure diets don’t work! Look at what’s on the diet and see if you can decipher what’s grievously wrong.

Did you find the DASH Diet doctors’ boo-boo? It’s that they didn’t consider the Glycemic index of foods and allowed 6 to 8 servings of grain each day. Take a look at the Glycemic Index of different grain products and you’ll be shocked to find a Glycemic Index of 77 for whole wheat bread. High Glycemic Index foods are rated 70 and above; low Glycemic Index foods are rated 0-55.

The Relationship Between Hi Glycemic Index Foods and High Blood Pressure

By eating plenty of grains all day long, you’d be keeping your blood sugar levels high all day long. And that’s going to raise blood pressure. High blood sugar means you’ll have an insulin reaction in the body. Your pancreas will try to lower that blood sugar no matter what it has to do to get it lower. Your pancreas responds by increasing insulin output four to five times higher than normal to meet the needs of the moment in your body.

And that’s not the end of the story. That insulin goes to every part of your body and starts causing havoc. In the blood vessels, you will end up with high blood pressure. The excess insulin shifts your biochemical pathways to store fat in the body. Even if you have a piece of celery, you’ll start storing fat and gaining weight. And this in turn, affects your blood pressure. As your weight increases, so does your blood pressure.

Can you see why your choice of high blood pressure diets must be a sound one? Sure, the DASH Diet has been around for a long time and shows some benefits, but from a natural healing perspective, it’s NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

To alter the DASH Diet so it becomes one of the high blood pressure diets that work, eliminate the grains and monitor the Glycemic Index of each food you eat.
