Why You Should Save The Placenta After Giving Birth

This may sound pretty disgusting to you. I remember one new couple I was working with to save their placenta for the mother. Her parents thought it was revolting to save and consume the placenta. Because the couple was living with them, they had to cater to the parents’ needs – and couldn’t even bring the placenta home. The parents thought the placenta was unclean in some way and didn’t want any part of it. Her husband captured the placenta and put it in a cooler with ice in it and I picked it up to take to the placenta specialist.

How to Consume Your Own Placenta

There’s a particular process to consuming the placenta that women find more attractive in the United States. Here it is:

1. Allow an assistant in the birthing process to collect the placenta and umbilical cord and pack it on ice in a cooler (also in a plastic bag).

2. Find a certified placenta encapsulation specialist who lives close to you to help with the rest of the process. If you don’t have one close to you, you’ll have to prepare it yourself.

3. Steam the placenta in a steaming pot with fresh ginger added to the water. This will take about 45 minutes.

4. Next slice the placenta (it looks like liver) finely. Lay the slices on a parchment paper-lined dehydrator tray. Dehydrate at low temperature until each piece sounds like glass falling when dropped on a tabletop.

5. Blend it or grind the dehydrated pieces.

6. Next you’re ready to encapsulate them. Use size 00 capsules and a capsule maker.

Each placenta yields between 100 and 200 capsules. The dosage is two capsules daily until the capsules are gone. Most women will notice a difference within a few days of starting to consume the placenta capsules.
