Effective Natural Cures For Bronchitis

Take a multivitamin to ensure that your body has micronutrients needed for healing.

Vitamin A aids the repair of damaged lung tissues. I prefer beta carotene, which converts to natural vitamin A, instead of ordinary vitamin A, as it is safer. A vitamin which is rich in a complex of carotenoids is even better than beta carotene. Experts are just beginning to recognize the many benefits that carotenoids other than beta carotene have to offer. During acute illness, up to 50,000 units of any vitamin A or carotenoids may be taken. After one month, decrease the amount to 15,000 units per day.

Vitamin C is a well known antioxidant. Take up to 10,000 units in divided doses daily, while ill. If you develop loose stools, lower the dose. Vitamin C enhances the work of the immune system and lowers histamine levels which are responsible for many of the symptoms of bronchitis.

Avoid mucus forming foods such as dairy products. They thicken and increase the amount of respiratory secretions as well as make elimination of the secretions more difficult.

Blow up a balloon several times each day to improve the function of your lungs. Practice taking ten deep breaths every hour while awake.

Sleep with your head elevated on pillows. Be sure to change your position frequently while awake so that secretions will not pool and create difficulty breathing or increased coughing.

Use these simple interventions as part of a plan to cure bronchitis naturally. These tips and remedies will help you to recover from bronchitis quickly and completely. They will make you more comfortable during the time that you are sick.

Meet with your health care provider if you have complications or the bronchitis doesn’t go away within a week or two. Often, people recover, yet still have a cough at times for about one month. Consult a health care practitioner if the sick individual is a child, elderly, or has other medical conditions.
