Kidney Stones – Effective Home Treatment For Pain Relief

Hydrate:

* Cranberry juice – unsweetened pure cranberry juice can help your body eliminate toxins

* Marshmallow root tea – drink up to 1 quart daily to reduce concentrations of toxins in the kidneys and soothe irritated tissues

* Nettle Tea – steep 1/2 cup nettle leaf in one quart of water for 3 to 4 hours; strain and drink daily to cleanse bloodstream and kidneys

Be sure to contact a doctor to be diagnosed for this painful, yet treatable disorder that can develop complications without proper care. Of course, if you are in pain, there is no reason to suffer. Apply warm compresses to the affected area and rest for 20 minutes. The heat will help to dull the pain and bring more blood to the area.

You should also seek medical attention if you have severe pain in your lower abdomen, side or groin areas, blood in your urine or a severe urinary tract infection as well. If you also experience fever, chills, nausea, or vomiting along with this pain, check with your doctor as this is a sign of something more serious.

To properly track urinary health, you may want to measure your urine output with a large plastic soda bottle. If you are urinating less than two-liters per day, increase your water intake and continue to consume plenty of the liquid remedies listed above. Using a bottle will also help you catch any stones that have passed, if you want to have your doctor analyze a stone to determine the cause.

It might be helpful to realize that your kidneys actually filter your blood many times per day, up to 180 liters per day. Much more than just the amount of urine they release. They work hard for you, so treat them well. With just a few changes in diet and the right fluids, you can help yourself recover from kidney stone pain and help prevent future flare-ups.
