Self Help For Anxiety Relief – Try These Natural Remedies

Connect with Yourself

When we’re overcome with anxiety, there is often a sense of disconnectedness, like we’re missing something vital. Activities like yoga, meditation and journaling can help you find your inner voice and strength to face your fears. Building a consistent practice of self-nourishing exercises can do wonders for anxiety relief.

Choose a yoga sequence that is restorative in nature rather than invigorating. Reclined postures and forward folding poses are excellent for calming nerves and creating a euphoric feeling. Breathe deeply during your practice and center your thoughts on what’s happening with your body, right now.

Spend a few minutes breathing deeply and slowly after your yoga practice. Turn your attention inward and let your thoughts float, reminding yourself that you are safe and supported. Record your experience in your journal without judging or comparing your experience with any outer expectations. Take time to just be with yourself, relax and breathe.

Reach Out to Others

It seems unlikely that if you are suffering from anxiety that offering yourself to others might be a step in the right direction, but establishing healthy relationships can make us feel more at ease, supported and rewarded all at the same time. It doesn’t take much to make a special connection to someone else, and the positive feelings can last all day.

A great way to feel needed and nurtured at the same time is to do volunteer work. Go to a local nursing home or animal shelter and offer your services once a month. You might be surprised how easy it is to set your anxiety aside when you know that you are helping someone else – and yourself at the same time.

Spending time with a pet is also a perfect anti-anxiety remedy. The gentle nature of most cats and dogs, and their ability to be perfectly happy in the present moment, are wonderful healing effects that can often relieve anxiety instantly. Find a furry friend and start snuggling!

I hope that you find a few go-to remedies that work for you. The more you practice these when you are feeling less anxiety, the better they will work when you are all tied-up in knots over something.
