Sunburn Itch – No Need To Suffer With These 10 Natural Remedies

6. Diatomaceous earth

This one is a little tricky as it can dry the skin. However, the fact is that diatomaceous earth is the one major healing agent for scars so if your sunburn itch starts to scar, mix about a teaspoon of the food-grade variety with enough water to make a thin paste. Then apply it over the area affected. Wash off after an hour.

Repeat every two to three days but if you notice the skin of the area is getting dry, follow with cocoa butter each time you apply it. Use until your skin is totally healed. You may want to take it orally instead. To do this, mix one heaping tablespoon in liquid of your choice twice daily.

7. Oatmeal

It’s the anti-inflammatory properties of oatmeal that makes it soothe sunburn itch. This is an old Grandma remedy that has been around for centuries. Just moisten the rolled oats or oatmeal with some water and place on top of the sunburn itch as a compress.

8. Beauty water

If you have a Kangen water filtration system, you are already familiar with the ability of the machine to make “beauty water”. Simply select the option for beauty water and use it on itchy skin. The beauty water is slightly acidic to match the correct pH of skin. When the pH of the skin is correct, you should have reduced itching in your sunburned area.

The Kangen water filtration system also makes alkaline water at different pH levels and can make neutral pH water. Water that is slightly alkaline may be helpful to the skin that’s inflamed and troubled by sunburn itch.

9. Green Tea Bath

If your sunburn itch covers a large part of your body, the easiest way to reduce the itch is to draw a warm bath and add green tea to it. Just imagine that it’s a gigantic cup of green tea filled with polyphenols, anti-inflammatory agents, antioxidants and anti-itch substances. Your skin will love it. In fact, green tea is commonly used for skin issues in Japan to stimulate healing.

10. Cider Vinegar

Cider vinegar added to water will alkalinize the water and may reduce inflammation and itch.
