Use Herbs To Relieve Acid Reflux – Effective Herbal Remedies

Chamomile can aid the digestive process and reduces inflammation. It makes a flavorful tea and combines well with other herbs used to soothe the esophagus. It has the ability to relieve spasms of the digestive tract as well, promoting further comfort.

Slippery elm is an outstanding herb. Only organically raised slippery elm should be used as the herb has been over harvested in the wild. Keep slippery elm powder or capsules on hand to provide instantaneous relief of heartburn. Follow the label directions for the capsules. I use 1 tablespoon of the powder per cup of water to ease heartburn. The tea will be very thick, but it is quite palatable and you will be amazed at how quickly you obtain relief.

All of the herbs may be consumed in a variety of forms. I recommend teas when possible for digestive ills. I do not recommend the use of alcohol based tinctures and extracts for acid reflux as the alcohol may cause discomfort.

The simplest method to make tea is to blend whatever herbs you select together. Try combining 2 teaspoons each of slippery elm powder and dried orange peel with one half teaspoon each of chamomile flowers, and lemon balm for a soothing blend. Use a minimum of four teaspoons of dried herbs per quart of water. I often use more. Cover the herbs with boiling water. Let the infusion sit, covered, for at least twenty minutes. Strain out the herbs and compost them. Drink the tea throughout the day, warm or cool.

You may prefer to use herbal capsules or tablets if it is more convenient for you. The American Herbalists’ Guild can provide you with a list of several reputable herb companies.

Try adding herbs to your wellness plan to relieve acid reflux. They provide safe effective relief. In addition, many of the herbs are tasty and provide you with nutrients which facilitate healing as well.
