Effective Home Treatment For Eye Stye

Check Up

If you have followed the above protocol, your stye should clear up within a few days. Most of the time this condition does not require medical care, but if it does not clear up properly, or gets worse, you may want to contact your doctor. Proper treatment can keep an eye stye from developing into a more serious infection. Seek help if:

* It takes longer than a week to heal the stye
* It becomes more painful or swollen even after home treatment
* You develop flu-like symptoms such as fever, aches or chills
* Your vision is impaired or blurred due to swelling or infection

Your doctor may be able to help if the pain recedes but a lump remains. It is usually not a big deal, but this little bit of scar tissue can be removed by an eye doctor if necessary. A few instances have occurred where a stye has progressed into a full-blown systemic infection throughout the body, and occasionally the eye can become permanently sealed due to damage from infection, but these instances are rare. All the more reason to treat a stye properly.

Although they are mostly just an annoyance, an eye stye does require a little extra care on your part. Plan time to rest and heal so that your eye tissue will return to normal as quickly as possible. After all, your eyes are the “gateway to your soul” and deserve to be treated as such.
