Juice Diets – Why You Should Be Careful Going On One
|
Even Babies Will Have a Similar Response to Fruit Juices
I’ve seen the same thing occur in babies when parents suspect the child is allergic to milk and naively give fruit juice instead to the child. The baby begins growing at a very fast rate and gets bigger overall. It’s as if the baby is on steroids, but it’s not a steroid reaction. Instead, it’s an insulin reaction. If the situation is not corrected, the baby’s genes will be affected and diabetes is inevitable, showing up at an early age such as in the late teens.
Fruit juices don’t have to be the only food in the diet for this reaction to occur.
Why Vegetable Juices Don’t Cause Diabetes
Vegetable juices don’t have this same effect on the body. The vegetables that are usually juiced have a low Glycemic index, which doesn’t make the blood sugar level rise as high as what happens with fruit juices. So if you want a healthy juice diet, use vegetables!
Be Specific in Your Goal
Another key point to apply if you want to reverse illness with juice diets is to be specific. Use the vegetables that contain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals with properties of healing for the particular illness that you have. If you have less than normal vision, you’ll want carrots, tomatoes, pumpkin, and figs for their healing phytochemicals that are specific to vision – lutein, zeaxanthin, beta carotene, and other carotenoids. Of course, it will be important to only use one ripe fig in your juice, and occasionally two, but no more. This way, you won’t raise blood sugar levels too high.
There seems to be a few myths circulating about carrots. In the early days when researchers were first publishing their results on the Glycemic Index (GI) of foods, they reported that carrots had a GI that was quite high. Later research confirmed this was wrong and that carrots were low GI foods. It makes a lot of sense to me that carrots do have a low GI, especially since I’ve never seen anyone develop a pre-diabetes or diabetic situation after consuming carrot juice over several months. Low GI foods won’t harm you and will only nourish and heal you.
