Useful Herbs For Natural Bladder Infection Treatment

While uva ursi is a highly useful herb, there are some facts about its use that you may want to take into consideration.

Uva ursi may turn urine a harmless green color while it is being used.

Uva ursi works best in an alkaline environment. Most of the time, infected urine is alkaline, so that is not usually a concern. However, if you opt to use uva ursi, do not use cranberries or blueberries simultaneously, as they create acidic urine. Avoid vitamin C supplements as well.

Do not use uva ursi if you are pregnant. Uva ursi’s diuretic quality is not good for you or your baby. In addition, uva ursi may stimulate uterine contractions.

Do not use uva ursi for more than five infections yearly without expert advice.

If using uva ursi for a bladder infection, use it consistently for ten to fourteen days even if symptoms disappear.

Uva ursi may decrease potassium levels in your body. Eat bananas, dark green leafy vegetables, and other potassium-rich foods while using uva ursi.

Combine uva ursi with marshmallow root to reduce the likelihood of gastrointestinal distress. Marshmallow is soothing to inflamed tissues within the urinary tract as well.

To make a cold infusion of uva ursi and marshmallow root, combine four teaspoonfuls each of dried uva ursi leaves and marshmallow root. Cover with one quart of cold water. Let the blend sit for several hours at room temperature. Strain the tea. Drink four cups daily.

If using a tincture, take 2 to 3 ml of a 1:5 strength tincture three times daily. Capsules containing the herb are available. Follow label instructions.

Uva ursi is an excellent remedy for difficult-to-treat urinary infections. It fights many types of bacteria. Several of the kinds of bacteria which uva ursi destroys are among the most common causes of bladder infections.
