Diet For Type 2 Diabetes – Crucial Information You Must Have

Ordinary wheat, the original wheat plant did not raise blood sugar levels. Instead, wheat was the ‘staff of life’ and kept people healthy. One couple I had with diabetes refused to give up their carbohydrates in their diet. Both were in their 70s and their health was continually declining. Finally the man made up his decision that he wanted to look good for a high school reunion and wanted to lose his extra 85 pounds. I changed his diet so that it was naturally low in carbohydrates. This doesn’t mean it had NO carbohydrates; it had remarkably lower levels of carbohydrates.

From the third day of the diet onward, he began losing weight. It was common for him to lose 5 pounds in a week or even up to seven pounds. This is not too much weight loss when there is morbid obesity, and it is to be expected if a diet is formulated correctly. By the end of his first week, his blood sugar levels at fasting fell to 125 mg/dl, a remarkable decrease from the 180s and higher that he always had. His belly was decreasing in size as well and he looked better and better. His peripheral neuropathy started improving, too.

These are changes you can expect when you go on a good diet for Type 2 diabetes that limits carbohydrates as it should. And the final goal – which often results in many cases – is fasting blood sugar levels that are well within the normal range and less than 100 mg/dl. After a few months at this level, your doctor will be convinced that you no longer are diabetic. And that’s a day to celebrate!
