Herbal Eczema Cures – What Herbs To Use For Home Treatment

Recipe for Eczema Preventing Salve

It is simple to prepare an herbal salve to prevent eczema. The salve forms a barrier against skin irritants and nourishes the skin. Gather any of the fresh herbs noted above that are used to treat eczema topically. You may use dried ones if that is all that is available, but fresh is best.

If you are picking fresh herbs, gather them in the late morning, after the dew has dried, while their volatile oils are at their peak. Let them lie on a cloth out of the sun until they are limp. Chop the herbs and pack them tightly into a glass canning jar. Cover them with olive oil. Add as much oil as you need to cover the herbs by one inch of oil. Cover the jar with a tight fitting lid.

Place the jar in a sunny window. Shake the jar twice daily for two weeks. Strain out the herbs using cheesecloth. Wring out the cloth carefully to ensure that you obtain all of the herbal benefits from the plants.

Measure one cup of herbal oil. Add the oil to the top of a double boiler. Add one fourth of a cup of grated beeswax. Heat the oil and wax until the wax is melted. Pour the oil into small, dry, sterilized containers.

Apply the cooled salve as needed to prevent recurrence of eczema. It may be applied topically to lesions twice daily.

Additional Treatments for Eczema

Evening primrose, hemp, borage seed, or black current seed oil capsules may be consumed to enhance healing. Note and avoid foods and substances that cause flare ups. Use natural, unscented personal care and household products. Eat a healthy diet. Include fermented foods such as sauerkraut, kefir, and yogurt in your diet. Manage stress. Before long you will feel better and your skin will once again have a healthy glow.
