Mindful Ways To Relieve Stress Now


Passive Reflection

* meditation – give yourself five minutes to sit comfortably and observe your breath; when thoughts creep in (they will), return your focus to the breath and let them go; nothing more is required of you for a whole five minutes

* perspective – ask yourself if your thoughts are accurate or blown out of proportion, consider ways that you may not really be in control and let those anxieties go; realize that you can’t know or do everything and give yourself a break already

* journaling – write down your thoughts before you go to bed or anytime they are distracting you; when they’re on paper, they have less power over you

* flower essences – mix four drops of Olive, Elm, Oak or Mimulus in a cup of water and drink several times per day to relieve anxiety and allow you to sink into the present moment


When we are not present for what is happening in our lives right now, this very instant, we create stress. If you are not completely present for your life right now, you will continually make yourself sick over past experiences or be worried about the future. The things that you need to pay attention to right now will be missed, and if you distract yourself enough you’ll miss the good stuff while trying to avoid the bad. Being mindful is the best long-term solution for stress relief, so go ahead and enjoy your life – now.
